Commencement & Celebration

When I accepted the Coordinator role in New Student & Family Programs in Summer 2016 at Florida State University, I knew I was interested in pursuing my Ph.D. My plan was to work for a year and then determine if I wanted to apply to the Doctor of Philosophy program the following year. However, during New Student Convocation in Fall 2016, God made it VERY clear that was not His plan for me. “Filling in” for College of Education in full regalia was God showing me exactly what He was calling me to do…

I was admitted in January 2017 and begin this journey in Fall 2017, & now, here we are…

You are invited to join my family and I as we celebrate this occasion.

Pearson’s dissertation defense is a formal academic moment. At the defense, she will be expected to cogently and clearly explain her research and how it fits with other scholarship in the field. The defense is a oral presentation to members of her dissertation committee followed by questions from the committee and formal evaluation of the dissertation. The dissertation chair, Dr. Tamara Bertrand Jones, is the owner of this Zoom link and will serve as the moderator for the defense and report the results following the defense. Please ensure your zoom is muted during the defense.
